Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village
Let your historical imagination be sparked by the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village! Here at Pincher Creek’s premiere heritage facility, truly you can step back into time. Relive the rustic vibrant western Canadian frontier from long ago!
Set in our eye catching treed and gardened grounds, our Pioneer Village offers the visitor the opportunity to relive those glory days from our past. An array of thirty-one historical buildings awaits your stopover. The structural patriarch is the 1878 NWMP Horse Barn that led to the origins of Pincher Creek as a settlement. Exhibited in fine fashion is John George “Kootenai” Brown’s iconic log cabin from nearby Waterton Lakes, two majestic ranch houses dating from the 1880s and 1890s, a couple of quaint country schools, car garages, and a large sweep of old time business structures established over half a century. Each is displayed with a selection of authentic pioneer artifacts which visually recreate those half forgotten stories from bygone days. A thoughtful selection of educational and entertaining events allows the public to re-visit the past.
The history of the Pincher Creek area is carefully maintained through these exhibits, catalogued artifacts and extensive archives of old time stories, documents, photographs and reference materials.
Our Country Store retails quality souvenirs, crafts and books for purchase. Come see us soon here at the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village!
