Crowsnest Healing Arts & Acupuncture

What challenge(s) does your business solve?

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are great ways to relate to our physical and mental health. We operate by identifying patterns, and looking at why and how things came to be, and encouraging changes from there. If you have a cold, you can take herbs to fight the cold, but what about treating the reason you caught it in the first place? It’s a giggle in our profession that the most common side effects of acupuncture are a feeling of deep calm and relaxation. Treatments include a short conversation and a nap.

How did you come up with your business name?

It’s due to the area I live in: Crowsnest Healing Arts & Acupuncture.

When did you start your business?

Graduated in 2005, stayed on at the deans clinic for a couple years then started my practice in 2007, Yellowknife for a year, then here in Crowsnest Pass since.

What drove you to start this business?

I chose Chinese medicine over other options because it is the only system of medicine I found that encompasses both diagnosis and treatment. And with a good diagnosis, treatments can be simple but profound. One of my favorite acupuncture miracles didn’t even include acupuncture. It was a man dancing around the waiting room excitedly telling the other patients that the doctor had cured his urinary problems in just one treatment! But the doctor didn’t “cure” anything. The man had been drinking ice water for years, and his body couldn’t handle the cold. He healed himself of a problem that had been plaguing him for years because the doctor recognized the pattern and the man was willing to make a change.

Anything else you’d like people to know about your business?

Hope to see you soon!
