Meet the owners of The Pantry

Thank you for supporting The Crowsnest Pantry and for being a part of our community! I’ve heard from our amazing staff that many of you have been asking “Who are the owners? Do they live here?”, so I’d like to take this opportunity for a formal introduction.

My name is Jasmine. Along with my husband Tony and two kiddos (Jolie and Orson), we feel humbled and blessed at the support we have received from our community in this business endeavour.

We moved to Crowsnest Pass in the spring of 2017 with a newborn and a toddler in tow. We only planned to stay for about 10 months, as I was on maternity leave and Tony had been offered a temporary position with the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

We were never the type to put down roots anywhere - Alberta is the 6th province in which I have had a drivers’ license, and Tony (originally from Maine) has lived in 12 different states and provinces in his adult life. We met in Newfoundland when Tony was pursuing his Masters in Biology and I was completing a degree in pharmacy. We connected through our shared values of sustainability and simplicity and were happy with our nomadic lifestyle.

But within 10 days of moving to Crowsnest Pass I told Tony “I’m not going back. I want to stay here forever”. We had lived pretty much everywhere but *this* is where we finally found community and where we felt like we belonged. We’ve been here for 5 years now and feel fully entrenched in the community.

I work full-time as a pharmacist with a clinical interest in geriatrics and palliative care, so you’ll find me working in long-term care at the Crowsnest Pass Hospital. The kids attend Horace Allen School in Coleman and both skate with the CNP skating club. Tony does all the background things to keep The Crowsnest Pantry and the family running smoothly.

For us, The Pantry is about giving back to the community that embraced us and finally gave us a place to call “home”. We bought the old West End Confectionery in June 2019 and Tony (along the help of some amazingly dedicated and talented friends and volunteers) spent roughly 3 years designing and renovating the space into the store you see today.

So THANK YOU, Crowsnest Pass! We look forward to serving you and supporting you in your efforts to eat well, live well, be well, and take care of this place we all call “home”.
