Trail Building • Star Creek Falls
The Alberta Hiking Association and dedicated volunteers have been hard at work improving the popular Star Creek Falls Loop Trail. Over 350 volunteer hours have been contributed by more than fifty trail enthusiasts to enhance the safety, sustainability, and overall experience of this beautiful trail.
Located on the west end of Coleman on Public Lands, the Star Creek Falls Loop Trail spans 2 km with an elevation gain of 100 meters. Along the route, hikers will cross two bridges over Star Creek and enjoy several breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the falls, with wide views of Crowsnest Mountain and the iconic Window rock formation.
Previously, the trail followed steep, eroded quad tracks and challenging switchbacks, which created difficult sections for hikers. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, we have focused on rerouting these areas to create a safer and more enjoyable experience for all trail users, while ensuring the long-term preservation of the natural landscape.
This project is funded by the Public Lands Trails Program, and we are grateful for the support from the Crowsnest Conservation Society, which provided updated signage for the trail.
With several trail-building days still ahead, we aim to complete the upgrades before the snow arrives. Whether you’re an experienced trail builder or a newcomer looking to lend a hand, we welcome everyone! Training, tools, and a complimentary tailgate lunch are provided for all volunteers.
