Cartwright Cares Inc.

What challenge(s) does your business solve?

Cartwright Cares provides community-based senior supports in the Crowsnest Pass. Between our Adult Day Program and in-home supports we aim to allow seniors to age well in our community for longer.

How did you come up with your business name?

Cartwright Cares was named after my great-grandma, Alberta Cartwright (Drew). It is a nod to our communities’ history with the Cartwrights being one of the first families that settled in the area in the early 1900’s (Crowsnest and Its People, pg.458). I chose to name the business after a woman I felt was well known in the community with the hope that it would build a strong connection to the residents of the Crowsnest Pass.

When did you start your business?

May 2024

What drove you to start this business?

Having worked with seniors as a Recreation Therapist in supportive living and just recently moved back to the Crowsnest Pass, I saw a need in our community to support those living at home. 95% of seniors would like to age in place and the senior population will continue to grow until 2050 - it is timely that we are prepared to support the seniors to stay in the Crowsnest Pass where many have lived their whole lives.

Anything else you’d like people to know about your business?

We provide a variety of services that include:

An Adult Day Program (7720 17 Ave Downtown Coleman) which provides a variety of recreation opportunities and respite for caregivers. We value the positive impacts of community involvement on seniors wellbeing and aging well.

Our in-home supports include respite support for caregivers, homemaking (tasks to maintain the home), and personal care (non-medical). We also contract companies that provide support with lawn care, snow removal, home cleaning, and handyman services to maintain the home.

Most importantly, we would like people to know that asking for help can be hard, but we are here to help in whatever way we can.

Please call us to set up a meet and greet (for no charge). We can meet in your home or at our Adult Day Program.
